The retail trend of offering a free laptop to secure broadband deals is growing fast following Carphone Warehouse's decision to offer a free Dell laptop to every customer who signs up to wireless AOL Broadband. This follows an earlier initiative by PC World who offered a free laptop for every customer who signed up to Orange Broadband.
For the AOL Broadband free laptop offer, customers need to sign up online or in a Carphone Warehouse store for the wireless AOL Broadband £19.99 package. This package has speeds of up to 8Mb broadband and comes with a hefty 40Gb monthly download usage allowance, plus free wireless router worth £50. Customers will also benefit from full wireless security, 24 hour online support and an AOL Talk pay as you go subscription.
The free laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1520 Notebook worth around £450. The free laptop is wireless ready and has Windows Vista Home Premium installed. It also has 1Gb of RAM and an 80Gb hard drive with DVD writer.
