O2 is a leading provider of mobile and broadband services to 18.4 million consumers and businesses in the UK. It is part of the Telefónica O2 Europe group which has over 40 million European customers.
The company is the leader in non-voice services, including text, media messaging, games, music and video, as well as data connections via GPRS, HSDPA (mobile broadband), 3G and WLAN.
Following O2's successful home broadband launch in October 2007 it has recently launched a mobile broadband service that's available on either a rolling 1 month contract (known as pay as you go mobile broadband / no contract mobile broadband) or on an 18 month contract. O2 mobile broadband provides flexible and convenient access to the web on the move anywhere in the UK (or Europe - additional charges apply) using an O2 USB modem (known as the O2 dongle) that simply plugs into a MAC or PC laptop and connects to the O2 mobile broadband network at speeds up to 1.8Mbps.
O2's mobile broadband service is available to UK residents who are 18 or over and who are either O2 Pay Monthly customers, O2 Home Broadband customers, or O2 Pay & Go customers (subject to £30 per quarter top-up).

For just £20 a month, O2 mobile broadband enables you to access your email and browse the Web from anywhere - whether sending emails from your local cafe, shopping online on the train home from work, or downloading the latest music while sitting in the park. You'll get fast mobile broadband speeds up to 1.8Mbps, a free O2 USB modem dongle worth £119.99 (available on 18 month contract), a sizeable 3Gb monthly data download allowance and unlimited access to 7,500 Wi-Fi hotspot locations in the UK.The 3G monthly data download allowance is roughly enough to send and receive 2,000 emails, or browse the Web for 100 hours. Any data used above 3GB will be charged at £0.20 per MB, though its good to hear that this will be waived for a promotional period until 31st October 2008, at which point the additional charges will apply. O2 Mobile Broadband delivers fast broadband speeds on the move on your laptop using the O2 mobile broadband network and the O2 plug and play USB modem dongle. There's two £20 per month tariffs to choose, with one available on an 18 month contract with a free O2 USB modem dongle and the other available on a flexible one month contract, with the USB modem dongle costing £119.99. Monthly data download allowances and costs for going over these are the same for both tariffs with the allowance applying for use in the UK only.It's worth noting that if you take your O2 USB Modem abroad, the charge for surfing the net / checking emails etc. is not included in your core tariff allowance. Costs for data usage outside of the UK are £3/MB in EU countries and £6/MB for countries outside the EU.

| It's no wonder O2 mobile broadband looks set to be a huge seller in the fast growing mobile broadband for laptops market. Priced competitively at £20 per month, the two tariffs on offer provide good mobile broadband download speeds up to 1.8Mb, generous monthly data download allowances and give people the option of a choosing either a rolling one month contract (known as pay as you go mobile broadband / no contract mobile broadband) or an 18 month contract. The O2 USB modem dongle will support speeds up to 7.2Mb so you won't need to change it when O2 roll this speed out on their network. Whether you're an existing O2 customer or not, mobile broadband from O2 is one to be seriously considered and one we certainly recommend. |
