UK Online has offered safe and reliable high speed internet services since 1994. Owned now by the BSKYB Group, their professional broadband packages offer a business grade service but not at a business broadband price. Their packages include a UK based freephone technical support service available anytime, speeds up to 16Mb with unlimited usage across all products, a low contention rate up to 20:1 and FREE McAfee security for 12 months (worth £49.99).
UK Online provide their broadband service through a process called local loop unbundling (LLU). This means they put their own equipment into BT exchanges, thus enabling them to offer lower prices and different speeds. Their packages are therefore only available if your house is connected to a BT exchange in which they've ‘unbundled’ (i.e. put their equipment in). At the time of writing, the company's network covers 70% of UK homes.

| If you're in the market for a professional broadband only package with excellent business broadband features like a UK based freephone technical support service then its worth considering what UK Online have to offer. Each of their packages offer an unlimited monthly download usage allowance and low contention ratios to ensure consistently good broadband speeds. One thing to note though is that unless you supply your own modem or router, you'll have to pay £49.99 for their Netgear wireless router. There's also a £25 connection fee if you take their 2Mb Lite package. If you're in their network area (they cover 70% of UK homes), the £19.99 per month for the unlimited 8Mb Pro package is an attractive option with excellent features and no connection charge. |
